The KU Leuven Department of Communication Science is delighted to invite you to the annual ‘Etmaal van de Communicatiewetenschap’, set to take place in the stunning city of Bruges.
Known for its rich history, beautiful canals, and vibrant culture, Bruges provides the perfect backdrop for our gathering of scholars and professionals in media and communication sciences. The conference will be held at the new Bruges Meeting & Convention Centre (BMCC), conveniently located within walking distance of both the train station and the city center. This state-of-the-art venue ensures a seamless and inviting experience for all attendees.
This year’s conference promises to be an exciting opportunity to share insights, discuss groundbreaking research, and engage in meaningful conversations with colleagues from across the field. “Media and Well-being” is the overarching 2025 conference theme. Whether you are presenting your work, attending sessions, or networking with peers, Etmaal 2025 offers countless chances to explore the latest developments in our rich discipline and to build connections that will inspire future collaborations.
During the Etmaal in Bruges, there will be traditional sessions with four individual paper presentations, high-density sessions in which several related papers will be discussed via a poster, and research escalators which allows presenters to pitch their work-in-progress or research idea to receive peer feedback.
Proposals for pre-conferences and panels can be sent directly to the organizers by e-mail, info@etmaal2025.org.
We invite scholars who work on communication science and media studies topics to submit an abstract for our conference to one or more of the following NeFCA divisions and working groups:
- Health communication
- Intercultural communication and diversity
- Journalism
- Media industries and Policies
- Media psychology
- Organizational communication
- Persuasive communication
- Political communication
- Popular communication
- Science communication
- TWG Human-machine communication
- TWG Environmental communication
- Educational network
Submissions within the conference theme are encouraged but are not a requirement.
SUBMISSIONS
Submissions should take the form of 600-word abstracts (excluding references). The deadline for submissions is November 8th, 2024, 24:00h (ECT). Please submit your abstract using the submission form. Since we want to give as many researchers as possible the opportunity to share their work with colleagues, we suggest limiting the number of submissions to a maximum of three, along with the expectation that the first author of a submission will present the work once it is accepted. All authors and co-authors who submit an abstract might be invited to review at least one other abstract.
