Doctoral Colloquium with various senior researchers such as Prof.dr. Yungwook Kim

On 14 September 2015, NeFCA’s working group on Persuasive Communication organized its second doctoral colloquium. Eight Flemish PhD students came to the department of Communication Sciences at Ghent University to present their PhD research and to receive feedback given by various senior researchers. Prof.dr. Yungwook Kim of the Ewha Womans University in Korea, was one of them who evaluated the PhD proposals of the students.

The day started with a dynamic lecture of Dr. Yann Verhellen who presented the secrets of mediation- and moderation analysis based on Preacher and Hayes. Theoretical insights were coupled with examples of his own research. In addition, PhD students could ask questions related to designs and analyses of their ongoing research. Afterwards, the PhD students had the opportunity to present their own research during 30 minutes, followed by feedback, questions and a short discussion.

The day was interwoven by several network moments with some nice sweets and lunch. These moments were suitable to further discuss research or just talk about PhD life in general. Besides the content related talks, the PhD students evaluated the possibility to share their experiences, ups and downs, tips and tricks among each other. We can conclude that it was a successful event!
